Don't Sit Around, Before It's on the Ground
My 4th grade Elementary Art Club's theme was "Don't Sit Around, Before It's on the Ground." They enforced this idea with an empty chair, encouraging people to get up and clean up. They constructed the chair out of cardboard, poster board and newspaper, held together with tape. They then used colored construction paper and art paste to papier mache their chair. They glued the "No MOre Trash!" logo on the back of the chair. They drew out their letters with pencil and outlined with black marker. They painted the sky and ground with acrylic paint and they used wadded up tissue paper for the sun. The gentleman is putting his trash in a trash can. They painted his clothes with acrylic paint and used oil pastels for his face and hands. They put a wadded up newspaper in his hand. Their trash can is on display in the main hallway by the Art Room in the Elementary School to promote student awareness.
