Oswald says: Go Clean - Go Green
Oak Brook Elementary in Ballwin, MO held a trash can decorating contest in January 2016. We talked with the students about the 26 million pounds of waste that gets added to our Missouri landfills every day. We are hopeful that the contest and the decorative trash can will draw more attention to this growing problem. Hannah Fitch, 4th grade student, won the contest with her whimsical monster design. She worked every Wednesday after school for a month with Ellen Havey (art teacher), Joy Berry (gifted teacher) and Christina Beaumont (counselor) to design and create the trash can and slogan for Oswald: Go Clean - Go Green. Our school has three types of trash cans: yellow for composting, blue for single stream recycling and gray for landfill. We are excited to have Oswald join our school to bring awareness to the landfill problems and focus on No MOre Trash at Oak Brook Elementary.
