PROJECT NAME:   CANCER IS TRASH

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Rusty trash can was given to class from the Holy Family Parish grounds to restore it to an eye catching opportunity for all to throw in or pick up any liter.   It had to be sanded and painted a primer metal.

Cancer affects many lives all the time just like trash does so we are supporting cancer efforts while cleaning up the trash.   We have several staff members that have experienced this dreaded disease themselves.

Research was done on all the different types of ribbons supporting those affected.   We learned that there were thirty five different support ribbons for the various types. There was also one lavender ribbon that is colored around the top that signifies cancer in general.  The ribbon circling the very bottom honors the cancer caregivers as cancer patients are never alone.  They need support.

The thirty five colored ribbons were painted on the can and identified for all that want to help pick up trash and learn about cancer support.  The can will be clear coated by local auto collision personnel to help it endure the elements of the weather.
